Bishnoi aide deported from Canada, held at Delhi airport by Punjab AGTF
Punjab's Anti-Gangster Task Force arrested Karamveer Singh at Delhi's IGI Airport after his deportation from Canada. He is accused of aiding Anmol Bishnoi.
A man described by Punjab Police as a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday, shortly after being deported from Canada.
The arrest was carried out by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, which described it as a significant breakthrough in its campaign against transnational organised crime.
According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, Karamveer Singh had arranged logistical support and a hideout for Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, in the United States. Singh was wanted in a first information report registered at the State Crime police station in SAS Nagar, Mohali, under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Arms Act and the Passport Act.
The AGTF had issued a Look Out Circular against him on September 3, 2026, the DGP said in a post on X.
Police records cited by the DGP indicate that Singh has a criminal history spanning murder, attempted murder, robbery, extortion and offences under the Arms Act, among other cases. Investigators are now working to map his wider network and activities, the DGP added.
Anmol Bishnoi, who had been evading arrest since 2022, was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency in November 2025 after his deportation from the United States, in a case concerning alleged links between criminal gangs and terror groups. He was also wanted in connection with several high-profile crimes, including the October 2024 killing of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, the April 2024 firing outside actor Salman Khan's residence, and the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
