Karan Johar to produce grand Radha-Krishna epic, signs Sachin Ravi as director
Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is developing a big-budget Radha-Krishna epic, directed by Sachin Ravi, set for a 2027-28 release.
Filmmaker Karan Johar is expanding his production slate with a major mythological project. According to sources, Dharma Productions is developing a tentpole epic based on the divine love story of Radha and Krishna, with Kannada director Sachin Ravi, known for Avane Srimannarayana, attached to direct.
The yet-untitled film is said to be among the biggest in Dharma's upcoming lineup, planned for release in 2027 or 2028. The project is in advanced development and will reportedly follow a new storytelling template, blending history, romance, and grand-scale visuals.
The narrative will trace Lord Krishna's journey from birth to the slaying of Kansa, with the eternal love between Radha and Krishna at its emotional heart. Johar has long wanted to make a film on this iconic tale and has now found a script he believes does justice to the subject.
Casting details have not been announced, and speculation is expected to begin over who will play the divine leads. The film marks a significant expansion for Dharma Productions into mythological storytelling.
