Kareena Kapoor on Daayra-VIBE Clash: 'Gold Will Come to Our Home Only'

Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor has weighed in on the box-office clash between her upcoming film Daayra and brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu's directorial VIBE, expressing confidence that both films will find success when they hit theatres on September 18.

Speaking at the trailer launch of Daayra in Mumbai, Kapoor praised Kemmu's acting abilities and comic timing, while noting that audiences will see a different side of him in VIBE. "Kunal is an outstanding actor, one of the best we have in our industry. No one does his comic timing like Kunal," she said.

Addressing the simultaneous release, Kapoor framed the situation as a positive for the industry. "I just feel that it's good for cinema when two great films come together," she said, adding that both films are "wonderful" and will perform well. She also injected a light-hearted family note, saying, "And the gold will come to our home only, so I will be very happy if both films do well."

Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar, stars Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran as senior police officers navigating the aftermath of a crime that grips the nation. The film, described by makers as "inspired by true events," follows two investigations and two officers on opposing sides of a case that challenges ideas of right and wrong. Its poster adopts a stark graphic design, reflecting the sombre subject.

VIBE, written and directed by Kemmu, follows two close friends whose lives take an unexpected turn, testing their friendship and survival. Kemmu stars alongside Preity, Sparsh Shrivastava, and debutant Vanshika Dhir. Produced by Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under Drongo Films, VIBE is an Amazon MGM Studios release.
