Karimnagar police seize drugs worth ₹6.5 lakh, arrest nine
Karimnagar rural police arrested nine youths and seized hash oil, ganja and drug paraphernalia valued at ₹6.5 lakh near Bommakal.
In a targeted operation on Friday, the Karimnagar rural police arrested nine individuals and recovered a significant quantity of narcotics from Bommakal, near Karimnagar. The seized items included approximately 500 grams each of hash oil and ganja, along with 60 drug tablets, 14 syringes, and other related equipment. The total value of the confiscated substances is estimated at ₹6.5 lakh.
The arrests were made following a tip-off, with a police team led by Karimnagar Rural Circle Inspector A. Niranjan Reddy conducting the raid. The detained youths, aged between 20 and 25, hail from the erstwhile composite Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. According to officials, some of the accused are B.Tech and degree graduates.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly revealed that they procured the narcotic substances from border areas of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. They allegedly transported the drugs to Karimnagar by train and sold them locally.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.
