No Dilution of Evidence in KPSC Probe, Says Karnataka Home Minister
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge says evidence in the KPSC recruitment irregularities probe will not be diluted, irrespective of the accused's position or affiliation.
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has categorically stated that there will be no dilution of evidence in the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Addressing reporters in Kalaburagi on September 5, he asserted that the government would not spare anyone found guilty, regardless of their official rank or political affiliation.
"Nobody, be it any party or commission, has any right to play with the future of our youth. Rest assured, I will not allow any evidence to be diluted as long as I am the Home Minister, no matter whether the accused is an IAS or IPS officer, or a BJP or Congress leader," Mr. Kharge said.
The Minister highlighted that the action against an IAS officer in connection with the irregularities was taken under a new law aimed at curbing malpractices in recruitment exams. He recalled introducing a private member's Bill during the Belagavi legislature session when the party was in opposition, which was later passed after they came to power, with draft rules now published.
Emphasising the stakes, Mr. Kharge noted that around 35 lakh candidates, many from middle-class, lower-income, and poor families who studied in government institutions, are appearing for various recruitment examinations. "It is our duty to protect their interests," he added.
Responding to a query on the declaration of drought in only five taluks of Kalaburagi district, Mr. Kharge explained that such declarations must follow norms prescribed under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) guidelines, which are framed by the Union Government. He criticised BJP leaders for protesting in Karnataka instead of questioning their own party's leadership at the Centre.
On prison reforms, the Home Minister said a high-level committee headed by Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) R. Hitendra has submitted its report on administration, security, and reforms in Karnataka prisons. The recommendations will be discussed with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and steps will be taken to implement them.
