Karnataka IAS Officer Detained Over KPSC Veterinary Exam Irregularities
IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar detained in Karnataka over irregularities in the KPSC veterinary officers' recruitment exam.
Bengaluru: Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, a 2016-batch IAS officer, has been taken into custody in connection with alleged irregularities in the Veterinary Officers' examination conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Gangwar, who currently serves as Director-MSME in the state's Department of Industries and Commerce, was detained on Saturday after being questioned for a second consecutive day. Investigators said he failed to cooperate during the interrogation, prompting the detention. He had earlier been grilled for nearly nine hours on Friday by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
At the time of the alleged irregularities, Gangwar was serving as Controller of Examinations at the KPSC. He was replaced in that role in March this year.
The case, initially registered at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station, was transferred to the CID on July 28. It is alleged that KPSC officials committed irregularities in the recruitment of veterinary officers for the Animal Husbandry Department.
Separately, on August 23, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at Gangwar's residences in Bengaluru and Bareilly as part of a money laundering investigation linked to the same examination irregularities.
