KEA Allows Second-Round Seat Cancellation Till Sept 20 With Conditions

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has permitted candidates allotted seats in the second round of medical and dental admissions to cancel their seats, subject to specified conditions. The window for cancellation closes at 5 p.m. on September 20.

According to KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna, candidates who have secured seats through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or in other States may withdraw from KEA counselling by the deadline without incurring any penalty.

Candidates who have not been allotted a seat through MCC counselling and wish to cancel their second-round KEA seat must visit the KEA office in person and pay a penalty of ₹10,000. Such candidates will remain eligible to participate in the third round of seat allotment if they choose to do so.

For medical candidates who cancel their seats after the last date for submitting options for the third round but before the last date for submitting options for the stray vacancy round, a penalty of ₹1.10 lakh applies. Dental candidates in the same situation will have to pay ₹60,000. These candidates will not be permitted to take part in subsequent rounds of counselling.

Candidates who cancel their seats after the last date for submitting options for the stray vacancy round, or after the stray vacancy round itself, will face a penalty of ₹1.10 lakh along with one year's course fee. In addition, they will be barred from participating in undergraduate counselling for the next three years.
