Karnataka Congress MLC flags six-month delay in tribal nutrition kits

Congress MLC K. Shivakumar has written to Karnataka's Chief Secretary highlighting that nutrition kits meant for tribal families have not been distributed for the past five to six months. The delay affects approximately 50,000 families spread across 11 districts, who rely on this government support for their welfare and nutritional needs.

In his letter, Shivakumar noted that the kits form a crucial part of welfare measures designed to address the health and nutritional requirements of vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and the elderly. He stressed that the prolonged non-disbursal has caused significant hardship for beneficiaries.

Many of these families reside in remote forest and hilly regions where access to regular nutritious food, healthcare, and essential services is already constrained. The MLC also pointed out that the prevailing drought has compounded their difficulties, as families can no longer depend on minor forest produce for their livelihoods. He urged the government to expedite the release of the kits to mitigate the distress.
