Kartik Aaryan's 'Captain India' to Begin London Shoot in September (2026-08-29)

Kartik Aaryan's 'Captain India', directed by Shimit Amin, starts filming in London on September 1, with a theatrical release planned for August 2027.

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan's upcoming film 'Captain India' is set to begin production in London on September 1. The shoot is expected to continue through the end of October.

The film is directed by Shimit Amin, known for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Chak De! India'. It is being produced by T-Series' Bhushan Kumar, Baweja Studios, and Dopamine Studios, with SB Films handling production.

'Captain India' is based on India's real-life evacuation of its citizens from a war-torn country. Kartik Aaryan will play a pilot involved in the rescue mission. The screenplay is written by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta, and Priyadarshee Shrivastava, and the film is expected to feature an ensemble cast.

A project titled 'Captain India' was first announced in 2021, with Hansal Mehta initially attached to direct for RSVP's Ronnie Screwvala and Baweja Studios' Harman Baweja, who wrote that version of the script.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 13, 2027, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan is currently recovering at home after undergoing knee surgery. The actor sustained the injury while performing an action sequence for filmmaker Kabir Khan's upcoming sports drama. His spokesperson confirmed that the surgery was successful and that he will return to the set soon.

Kartik recently won the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his portrayal of India's first Paralympic Gold Medalist Murlikant Petkar in the biographical sports drama 'Chandu Champion', also directed by Kabir Khan.
