Kasaragod police book post-partum carer over alleged leak of woman's private images
Kasaragod Town police have registered a case against Sulaikha Rasiya after a 27-year-old woman alleged her private images were captured and circulated on WhatsApp.
Police in Kasaragod have registered a case against a woman engaged as a post-partum carer after a 27-year-old woman complained that she was photographed and filmed in the nude and that the material was circulated on WhatsApp.
The accused has been identified as Sulaikha Rasiya, who, according to the complainant, had been attending to her during the period following childbirth.
The complaint states that the images and videos were captured on a mobile phone between September 7 and 20. They were subsequently shared with others over WhatsApp, which the complainant says caused her humiliation and mental distress.
Acting on the complaint, the Kasaragod Town police have registered a case under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 66E of the Information Technology Act and Section 119B of the Kerala Police Act.
Section 77 of the BNS deals with the privacy of a person's body, while Section 66E of the IT Act addresses the capture and publication of private images without consent. Section 119B of the Kerala Police Act relates to the circulation of obscene material through electronic means.
The case is under investigation.
