Three booked for glass attack and abduction of woman in Kasaragod
Kasaragod police booked three men for allegedly glass-attacking and abducting a 23-year-old woman, linked to a prior POCSO case.
The Vidyanagar police in Kasaragod have registered a case against three individuals, including two brothers, in connection with the alleged assault and abduction of a 23-year-old woman. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m. on September 4 at a juice shop in Nayanmar Moola, Chengla village.
The complainant stated that the accused arrived in a car and confronted her while she was having juice. The first accused, identified as Sabid, is alleged to have struck her on the head with a glass. The second accused, Thahir, is accused of assaulting her as well. The two, along with a third unidentified person, then allegedly forced the woman into their vehicle and drove away with her.
Police noted that the complaint was filed only after a delay, as the woman was undergoing treatment for her injuries. The attack is believed to stem from previous animosity. The woman had earlier registered a POCSO case against Sabid, and authorities suspect the assault was carried out because she refused to withdraw that case.
A case has been registered against the three accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 126(2), 127(2), 115(2), 118(1), 137(2), and 3(5). Further investigation into the matter is underway.
