Kashmiri Pandit Employees Seek Security Review After Threat Poster Names Individuals

A day after a fresh threat poster targeting Kashmiri Pandits surfaced online, employees recruited under the Prime Minister's Rehabilitation package have formally requested a security review. The All PM Package Employees Forum wrote to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atul Dulloo on Monday, seeking enhanced protection at workplaces, residences, and transit routes.

The poster, purportedly issued by a group calling itself the United Liberation Council (ULC) and dated 23 August 2026, has been circulating on social media. It reportedly contains threats directed at migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees and includes personal details such as names, addresses, and vehicle numbers of specific individuals. Security agencies have not yet verified the poster's authenticity.

The forum's letter describes the repeated circulation of such threats, especially those containing sensitive personal information, as a matter of grave concern. It notes that the matter has been brought to the notice of police and security agencies for verification and necessary action.

This incident follows a similar threat letter that surfaced on Sunday, nearly two weeks after another online warning told Kashmiri Pandit community members working in the Kashmir Valley to "change their ways." Notably, this is the first time in decades that threat letters have included such detailed personal information, down to house numbers and street names.

The letter says these threats have created a deep sense of fear and insecurity among the employees and their families. It calls for an immediate and thorough verification of the fresh poster and identification of those responsible. Additionally, the forum urges the government to ensure immediate protection and security guidance for employees whose names, addresses, or vehicle details have appeared in the threats, stressing that the matter be treated with utmost seriousness.
