Class 3 Boy Dies After Falling From Moving School Van in MP's Katni (2026-09-09)

A 10-year-old student died on Wednesday after falling from his school van in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred when the van's door reportedly opened unexpectedly while the child was on his way home from school.

The accident took place under the jurisdiction of the Vijayraghavgarh police station. The deceased, identified as Jeet Yadav, was a Class 3 student at a private school.

According to police officials, the sudden opening of the van door caused the child to lose his balance and fall onto the road from the moving vehicle. He sustained severe injuries and was bleeding profusely when bystanders rushed him to a nearby government hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon examination.

Station in-charge Abhishek Choubey confirmed the sequence of events, noting that the child was returning home when the mishap occurred.

Following the tragedy, local residents and parents have alleged that private educational institutions in the area are disregarding safety standards and Supreme Court guidelines for school transport. These guidelines mandate that school vehicles be painted yellow, display 'School Bus' lettering, and be equipped with speed control devices and panic buttons.

Police have stated that they are investigating possible negligence on the part of the driver, the fitness of the vehicle, and the role of the school management in ensuring the child's safety.
