Kavali Police Arrest Three, Seize 92.79 kg of Ganja in Andhra Pradesh
Kavali rural police arrested three persons and seized 92.79 kg of ganja, two cars and two mobile phones on NH-16 in Andhra Pradesh.
The Kavali rural police have arrested three persons on charges of smuggling ganja and seized 92.79 kg of the contraband along with two cars and two mobile phones, according to Kavali Rural Circle Inspector G. Rajeshwara Rao.
Speaking to the media, the officer said the arrests followed special surveillance and vehicle checks on NH-16 near the Musunuru toll plaza in Kavali mandal, at the junction of the cement road leading to Batladinne village, around 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Two cars travelling from Ongole towards Nellore were spotted by the police, and the occupants attempted to turn back, raising suspicion. The vehicles were immediately surrounded and searched.
During the search, 92.79 kg of ganja was found packed in 42 packets. The accused were identified as Govindaraj, 32, from Krishnagiri Taluk in Tamil Nadu; Muthyala Santhosh Kumar, 36; and Bangaram Raviraj, 34, from Visakhapatnam.
A case has been registered at the Kavali Rural Police Station under Section 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, and an investigation is under way. Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajitha Vejendla commended the Kavali Rural Police team for the operation.
