Kavitha’s emotional homecoming in Nizamabad, slams former BRS colleagues

K. Kavitha, chief of the Telangana Rakshana Sena, made an emotional return to Nizamabad on Monday — her first visit to the district after floating her new political outfit. Addressing a public meeting, she broke down several times while seeking to reconnect with the people who had once elected her to Parliament and later to the Legislative Council.

“Do not mistake my tears for weakness. An ordinary woman sheds tears when she is hurt, but that does not mean she is a coward,” she said, addressing the crowd.

Recalling her arrest and the subsequent investigations by the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI, Ms. Kavitha said she was jailed without any fault of hers. “I was put in Tihar jail without committing any mistake. For four years, the ED and CBI troubled me, but my courage never wavered and I did not deviate from my path,” she asserted, adding that the Supreme Court had vindicated her stand.

Turning her focus on former colleagues, she launched a sharp attack on former Minister V. Prashanth Reddy, Armoor MLA Jeevan Reddy, and former Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Goverdhan, holding them responsible for her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. She alleged that those she had helped politically had ultimately worked against her.

Ms. Kavitha was particularly critical of Mr. Prashanth Reddy, accusing him of playing a key role in the developments that led to her and her father K. Chandrasekhar Rao being side-lined. “I may forgive Harish Rao and Santosh Rao, but I will never forgive Prashanth Reddy,” she said, using strong language against him.

She also alleged that Mr. Prashanth Reddy had tried to join the Congress soon after the BRS lost power. Questioning the silence of BRS MLAs over the Congress government’s performance, she asked why they had not protested over issues such as the floods in Bodhan.
