Keesara SHO and SI held by ACB over ₹5 lakh station bail bribe
ACB officials caught a Keesara police station SHO and SI over a ₹5 lakh bribe allegedly sought for station bail and to avoid harassment in a registered case.
Two officers attached to Keesara police station were taken into custody by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in connection with a ₹5 lakh bribery case, the agency said.
The accused are Inspector and Station House Officer Arkapally Anjaneyulu and Sub-Inspector Dyapa Gnanender Reddy.
According to the ACB, Mr. Reddy was apprehended around 11.25 p.m. on September 16 by its City Range-I unit while he was allegedly receiving the money from the complainant. The agency said the payment was made on the instructions of Mr. Anjaneyulu.
The tainted amount was recovered from Mr. Reddy's possession at his instance, the ACB stated.
The bureau alleged that the two officers had demanded the sum in exchange for granting station bail and for ensuring that the complainant and his friend were not harassed in a case already registered at Keesara police station.
Both officers are being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The complainant's identity has not been disclosed for security reasons. The investigation is continuing.
