Kejriwal says 80% of drugs in Punjab now originate from BJP-ruled States
Arvind Kejriwal claims Punjab has cut drug inflows from Pakistan to 20%, with 80% now arriving from BJP-ruled States.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) said that while Punjab has reduced drug inflows from Pakistan, most of the narcotics reaching the State now originate in States governed by the BJP.
In a post on X in Hindi, Mr. Kejriwal said that when the AAP government took office in Punjab in 2022, about 80% of the drugs entering the State came from Pakistan. That share has now fallen to 20%, he claimed, crediting the installation of an anti-drone system to check cross-border movement.
He alleged that the remaining 80% of the supply now comes from BJP-ruled States, naming Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. "Has the BJP failed to stop the drug trade in its own states, or does it not want to stop it?" he said, adding that Gujarat, where the BJP has been in power for three decades, records the highest drug trade.
Mr. Kejriwal also claimed that drugs enter India through Mundra Port in Gujarat, and said halting such trafficking is the responsibility of the BJP-led Union government. He urged the BJP to learn from Punjab's approach and act against drugs in its other States as well.
The remarks come amid sustained criticism from the BJP over drug abuse in Punjab, with several related videos circulating on social media in recent days.
