Kerala Cabinet to Skip Media Interaction at IIM Kozhikode Workshop
Kerala CM and Cabinet will not meet press at IIM Kozhikode after workshop, citing schedule and security.
Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and his Council of Ministers will not take part in any press interaction or photo opportunity at the conclusion of their two-day leadership workshop at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) on Saturday afternoon.
The decision, attributed to an exceptionally tight schedule and security considerations, comes amid recent friction between the Chief Minister and the state's journalists over media access. Tensions had escalated after the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) criticised the practice of naming specific media outlets during press meets, calling such an approach objectionable in a democratic society.
Organisers at IIMK clarified that the Chief Minister and ministers face back-to-back commitments immediately after the 'Reimagining Keralam' programme, which began on Friday morning. As a result, no press conference, photo call, or media interaction will be held at the venue.
Access to the IIMK campus will also remain strictly restricted, in line with advice from the State Protocol authorities and the Chief Minister's Office. To ensure coverage, the institute's public relations team will release official photographs, video footage, and press statements through dedicated media channels.
