Court Orders Production of Congress Leader in Kerala CM Convoy Case

Thiruvananthapuram court directs production of Chenthi Anil in Kerala CM vehicle obstruction case; conspiracy charge added.

The First Class Magistrate Court in Thiruvananthapuram has directed the production of Chenthi Anil, a former member of the Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee, on Tuesday in connection with the alleged obstruction of Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan's vehicle. The court order mandates his appearance at 11 a.m., following a police request for custody to conduct further interrogation.

The investigation team has also invoked Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), adding a conspiracy charge against Anil. Police said the addition came after examining evidence, including the accused's mobile phone, which led them to suspect a deliberate plan behind the attempt to waylay the Chief Minister's convoy.

In its remand application, the prosecution argued that Anil's political influence posed a risk of evidence tampering or destruction if he were granted bail. The police also expressed concern that he might flee if released.

The custody application is scheduled to be heard alongside the production order on Tuesday.
