Kerala High Court directs TDB to roll out Thiruvabharanam security upgrade

The Kerala High Court has directed the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to implement a proposal aimed at improving the security and storage of the Thiruvabharanam, the sacred ornaments associated with the Sabarimala temple.

The direction follows a proposal placed by the Devaswom Commissioner for a digital database covering each Thiruvabharanam. Under the plan, every ornament would be assigned a unique asset number and recorded with details including the name of the Devaswom, its register number, weight, type of metal, gemstone number and photographs.

The database would also capture each ornament's current storage location and custodian, along with its transfer and inspection history. Together, these records are intended to create a verifiable trail for the valuables, from the point of storage to their movement and periodic checks.

The court's order requires the TDB to take the proposal forward, making the digital documentation and the associated security and storage improvements part of the board's operational framework for the ornaments.
