Kerala to Draw Up Master Plan for Three Major Capital Hospitals
Kerala's Health department will prepare a comprehensive development master plan for three major hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram, with INKEL tasked with the surveys.
The Health department will prepare a comprehensive master plan for the development of three major health institutions in Thiruvananthapuram, Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has said.
The institutions covered are the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital, the Peroorkada Model District Hospital and the Peroorkada Mental Health Centre, which functions as a Happiness and Wellness Centre.
Infrastructure Kerala Limited (INKEL) has been entrusted with preparing the master plan. A site survey and assessment to evaluate the existing facilities and development potential at all three institutions in detail will begin shortly.
The Minister has directed the Principal Secretary (Health) to secure the necessary permissions for the exercise.
The plan will be drawn up after a detailed examination of the condition of existing buildings, infrastructure, available land, treatment and allied facilities, and future development needs. It will also set out recommendations for upgrading current facilities and suggestions to enable comprehensive development that meets future requirements.
As part of the process, INKEL will carry out detailed surveys and site assessments at all three institutions at its own expense. A comprehensive blueprint for their development will be prepared on the basis of the information gathered once the surveys are complete, the Minister's statement said.
