Kerala 'P-Hunt' crackdown nets eight arrests, 135 fresh CSEAM cases
Kerala Police's 'P-Hunt' operation registered 135 cases and arrested eight people on September 21, with 212 devices seized in statewide raids against child sexual abuse material.
Kerala Police have registered 135 cases and arrested eight people in a statewide crackdown targeting the alleged possession of child sexual exploitative and abusive material (CSEAM), officials said.
The operation, codenamed 'P-Hunt', was carried out on September 21 by the Counter Child Sexual Exploitation (CCSE) team under the Cyber Operations wing of the State police. Cases were filed under provisions of the Information Technology Act.
Investigators seized 212 electronic devices during the raids, including mobile phones, modems, hard disks and memory cards that were allegedly used in the offences.
The CCSE team had identified 398 suspected locations across the State through intelligence gathering on the alleged CSEAM racket. The compiled inputs were shared with 150 specialised teams working under the supervision of District Police Chiefs.
The raiding squads included cyber cell and cyber police personnel, technical experts and women officers.
According to official sources, the 'P-Hunt' operation has so far resulted in 8,260 cases being registered and 403 people being arrested in connection with the alleged possession of CSEAM.
