Kerala Police Constitute SIT to Probe CMRL-Exalogic Pay-off Allegations
Kerala Police have formally appointed an SIT headed by Crime Branch SP P. Vikraman to investigate corruption allegations in the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case.
The Kerala Police have issued formal orders constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe corruption allegations in the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case. The team will be headed by Crime Branch Superintendent of Police P. Vikraman and will function under the supervision of the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Crime Branch.
The inquiry will cover allegations against Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter T. Veena, former Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas and his associates.
The SIT will include Deputy Superintendents of Police Benny K.V., Pradeep Kumar S.M. and Biju N., along with Inspectors Binoj S., Biju Lal K., Manoj Kumar T.D., Sharon C.S. and Krishnan Potty K.G. Ankit Asokan, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Operations, will assist the team on cyber-related matters. The ADGP, Crime Branch, has also been authorised to co-opt additional officers or personnel if required.
To begin the inquiry, the State Police Chief has handed over a copy of the Enforcement Directorate's communication, which reportedly contains serious allegations, including references to alleged hawala transactions.
The SIT is expected to seek further information and documents from the Central agency. Investigators face the task of independently verifying the material shared by the ED and gathering corroborating evidence.
The team is likely to decide its next course of action after examining the documents, financial records and statements available to it. It has reportedly been asked to submit a preliminary report within a month.
