Kerala Braces for Showers as Bay of Bengal Low-Pressure System Forms
A likely low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal may bring isolated heavy rain to parts of Kerala, prompting yellow alerts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood on Thursday. This system is expected to influence weather over Kerala, bringing isolated showers to parts of the state, particularly in central and southern districts over the coming days.
In response, a yellow alert has been issued for Ernakulam and Alappuzha districts for Thursday, warning of isolated heavy rainfall. The alert signals the possibility of localised intense downpours that could disrupt normal life.
The IMD has also placed Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam and Ernakulam under a yellow alert for Saturday, indicating that rainfall activity is likely to strengthen and continue through the weekend.
The expected weather system may also bring some relief from the hot and humid conditions that have prevailed across the state. While the easing of heat is likely in parts of Kerala from Thursday, the focus remains on monitoring the intensity and spread of the anticipated rainfall.
