Probe Ordered After Group Halts Keralam CM Satheesan's Convoy

Police have registered a probe after a group stopped the convoy of Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday evening. The incident occurred while Satheesan was travelling to Chempazhanthy to attend a function marking the birth anniversary of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.

According to officials, the Chief Minister had just visited a house at Ulloor when a group organising a separate Sree Narayana Guru event at Chenthi signalled his vehicle to stop. Satheesan stepped out following their request, and television visuals showed him engaged in a heated exchange with local Congress leader Anil Kumar, also known as Chenthi Ani.

After a few minutes at the spot, the Chief Minister returned to his vehicle and continued his journey. Police noted that no event at Chenthi was listed in the CM's official schedule, and the reason for stopping the convoy will be investigated.

Speaking to reporters, Chenthi Ani said the group had organised a Sree Narayana Guru event at a cultural centre and had invited the Chief Minister. "However, it was only on Friday that we came to know that our event was not included in the CM's schedule. So, while he was passing through the area, we signalled his vehicle to stop," he said, adding that a large crowd had gathered expecting Satheesan to attend.

The Chief Minister's Office has not yet responded to the matter.
