Khajaguda Junction Traffic Diversions Begin for 60-Day Pipeline Work
Traffic restrictions at Khajaguda Junction for water pipeline works will run for 60 days, with three diversion routes mapped for commuters.
Commuters using Khajaguda Junction, a key link to Hyderabad's western corridor, face two months of altered travel as traffic restrictions take effect for water pipeline works. The curbs, in force for 60 days from September 26, are tied to the laying of 900 mm and 1,000 mm diameter pipelines, per a Cyberabad Traffic Police advisory.
What changes at the junction
The most immediate disruption affects motorists heading towards Nanakramguda. The service road and the free-left movement from KIMS Hospital towards Nanakramguda Road will remain closed for the duration. Vehicles arriving at the junction from the Biodiversity side will also be barred from making the customary right turn onto Nanakramguda Road.
With these movements unavailable, authorities have cautioned that congestion is likely in and around Khajaguda Junction and advised commuters to budget extra time.
Three approaches, three detours
For traffic coming from the Shaikpet flyover side, the diversion begins before KIMS Hospital. Motorists will leave the usual stretch and use Timberlake Colony Road to reach Nanakramguda Road. The route map for this approach routes vehicles around the Khajaguda-Malkam Cheruvu side before they rejoin the Khajaguda-Nanakramguda Road.
Those travelling beneath the Shaikpet flyover have a separate option: the High-Tension Road, which bypasses the affected junction. The police map traces this movement from the Old Mumbai Highway side towards Khajaguda-Nanakramguda Road via the roads around Malkam Cheruvu and Chitrapuri Colony.
A third diversion applies to commuters arriving from Gachibowli and the Biodiversity Level-1 flyover. Instead of continuing to Khajaguda Junction for the right turn towards Nanakramguda, they must take the Pakwan U-turn and proceed along Khajaguda Lake Road. The map for this approach directs traffic from the Biodiversity side towards the Khajaguda-Lanco Hills stretch.
Advisory for commuters
Regular users of the junction, especially IT employees heading to the western Hyderabad office corridor, may need to factor in additional travel time, particularly during peak hours. Cyberabad Traffic Police have asked motorists to avoid the affected approaches where possible and use the alternative routes until the pipeline works are completed.
