Kharge: PM Modi turned SRCC student meet into political campaign
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge accused PM Modi of turning an SRCC student interaction into a political campaign, saying he dodged youth questions and used labels to hide policy failures.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using his interaction with students at Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) as a "political campaign" rather than a genuine dialogue on issues facing young people.
In a post on X, Kharge said the PM's visit was a chance to engage with the country's youth, but Modi allegedly avoided their questions. He claimed the Prime Minister resorted to labels for the Opposition to divert attention from the government's shortcomings.
Kharge listed terms such as "Naraaz Phupha" (Angry Uncle), "Dimagi Naxal", "Urban Naxal", "Khan Market Gang", "Andolanjeevi", and "Parjeevi", saying that while the adjectives change, the government's "anti-people policies do not change."
"Outreach is only needed when you become out of reach," Kharge remarked.
Taking a swipe at the government's "report card" presented by Modi, the Congress chief said the youth have their own report card marked by unemployment, delays in recruitment, paper leaks, rising education costs, shrinking scholarships, and growing pressure on university autonomy.
Kharge also referenced the Congress's "Chhatron Ki Goonj" campaign, urging Modi to listen to it and offer solutions instead of "beating around the bush."
The remarks came a day after Modi's interaction at SRCC, where he spoke on economic growth, education, and opportunities for young people.
