Ferry services to two key Kochi jetties remain suspended, tourists affected

Ferry services to two prominent jetties in Kochi continue to remain suspended, causing inconvenience to tourists and regular commuters alike. The disruption affects routes connecting to the Mattancherry and Kamalakadavu jetties.
According to the State Water Transport Department (SWTD), the resumption of services to the Mattancherry jetty is contingent on dredging work at its premises, which is still pending. Until that dredging is completed, ferries cannot safely operate to the jetty.
Separately, the Kamalakadavu jetty has not yet been handed over to the SWTD by the Cochin Smart Mission Limited (CSML), even though the pontoon and related works at the site have been finished. The delay in the formal handover is preventing the department from restarting services there.
Both jetties are important nodes in Kochi's water transport network, and their continued closure has hit tourist movement in particular. The SWTD has indicated that services will resume only after the pending dredging at Mattancherry is carried out and the Kamalakadavu jetty is officially transferred to its control.
