Kolar man held for killing wife's friend, dumping body in sump
A 36-year-old man and his friend were arrested in Kolar for allegedly strangling the man's wife's friend and dumping the body in a sealed sump.
Police in Kolar district have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a 36-year-old man, whose body was found sealed inside a water sump near Chikka Tirupati in Malur taluk on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Suresh, a private firm employee, and his friend Santosh, allegedly strangled the victim, Venkatesh, a resident of Sonnenahalli, over an alleged extramarital relationship between Venkatesh and Suresh's wife.
According to investigators, Suresh had repeatedly warned both Venkatesh and his wife to end the relationship, but they ignored his objections. On the day of the incident, Suresh and Santosh reportedly consumed alcohol together before attacking Venkatesh.
After the murder, the duo allegedly disposed of the body by dumping it inside a water sump and sealing the opening. The crime came to light after Venkatesh's family filed a missing-person complaint.
During the investigation, police traced Venkatesh's last movements and found that he had been seen with Suresh. Further questioning led to the arrest of both accused. The Malur police have registered a case and are conducting further inquiries.
