Komatireddy Accuses BRS of Neglecting Palamuru, Opens ₹200-Crore Works
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched development works worth nearly ₹200 crore in Devarakadra and blamed the BRS for Palamuru's irrigation backlog.
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday accused the previous BRS government of neglecting irrigation and development in Palamuru, alleging that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao were preoccupied with building farmhouses during their tenure.
Speaking after launching and inaugurating development works worth nearly ₹200 crore in the Devarakadra constituency, the Minister said the BRS had failed to complete several irrigation projects despite holding power for a decade.
He contrasted that record with the Congress government's handling of the Jurala and Nettampadu projects, which he said had been completed, and criticised the earlier administration for not finishing the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. He also questioned how the previous government had dealt with the diversion of Krishna water towards Rayalaseema through the Pothireddypadu system.
"If projects like the SLBC, initiated during the Congress regime, had been completed in the last 10 years, farmers would not have faced the present hardship," he said.
The Minister said ₹560 crore had been deposited in the Collector's account for land acquisition for the Uddandapur project, and assured that the Karivena reservoir would be filled with water within seven to eight months.
As part of the day's programme, he launched works for a HAM road from Meenugonipalli at an estimated cost of ₹158.36 crore and laid the foundation stone for a ₹40-crore high-level bridge across Ookachetthu Vagu. A ₹6-crore bridge across the same stream at Madanapuram was also inaugurated.
On the Kurumoorthy Temple Ghat Road, the Minister said the work would be completed by July next year.
