
Kozhikode businessman dies after car catches fire in crash
A 65-year-old businessman died after his car caught fire following a crash in Kozhikode. Police have initiated a probe.
A 65-year-old businessman was charred to death in the early hours of Wednesday after his car caught fire following a collision in Kozhikode. The incident took place at Madathilmukku near Chevayur around 4 a.m.
The deceased has been identified as C.P. Sudhakaran, a resident of Chevayur. He was reportedly on his way to Koyilandy for business purposes when the accident occurred.
According to police sources, the car lost control while descending a steep slope, first hitting a structure near a roadside transformer before crashing into a wall. The vehicle soon caught fire.
Local residents noticed the blaze around 4.45 a.m. and rushed to the spot, but the car was already engulfed in flames. Fire and Rescue Services personnel later arrived and extinguished the fire. Sudhakaran's body was recovered with the assistance of the fire team.
The Medical College police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Some residents have expressed suspicion over the cause of the accident. A partly-burnt container, reportedly used for purchasing petrol, was also recovered from the vehicle.
The body has been shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
