KPSC recruitment scam: IAS officer Gangwar, associate Kannale sent to 14-day judicial custody
IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar and Basavaraj Kannale remanded in 14-day judicial custody by Bengaluru court in KPSC veterinary recruitment scam.
A Bengaluru court on Wednesday remanded IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar and his alleged associate Basavaraj Kannale to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) veterinary officers' recruitment irregularities case.
The two were produced before the First ACMM Court after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) completed their 10-day custodial interrogation. The investigating agency informed the court that their further custody was not required at this stage, though it reserved the right to seek it again if needed during the probe.
Gangwar, who served as Controller of Examinations at KPSC from February 2024 to March 2026 before being transferred as Director of MSME in June, was arrested after questioning. Kannale, a Tumkur University Syndicate member arrested in Delhi, is being probed for his alleged role in the irregularities and his links with Gangwar.
The CID has been investigating alleged manipulation of OMR sheets, tampering with CCTV footage, and possible destruction of evidence. Searches at the premises of both accused reportedly yielded documents related to a money trail.
Separately, the Enforcement Directorate is probing the case and has issued a lookout notice against KPSC member Shanta Hosamani, who allegedly went untraceable after ED searches on August 18.
