Kremlin Welcomes Trump Call to Halt Ukraine Strikes on Russian Fuel Sites

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said Moscow would welcome any appeal for Kyiv to stop striking Russian diesel fuel facilities, after US President Donald Trump urged an end to such attacks.

"Any call on the Kyiv regime to stop strikes on civilian military infrastructure can only be welcomed," Peskov told reporters in Moscow on Monday.

Peskov also pointed to recent diplomatic contacts in New Delhi, saying Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had both shown keen interest in the Ukrainian issue during their meetings there. He said both leaders expressed their countries' readiness to play a role in a settlement if required and to make their own contribution.

The Kremlin spokesman added that any country could use its influence on Kyiv to encourage greater flexibility, describing such a step as a significant contribution to the settlement process.

On the battlefield, Peskov said Russian forces are carrying out their tasks across the entire territory of Ukraine and will continue to do so.

The remarks came as Washington pressed for a halt to Ukrainian drone and missile attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, which have disrupted fuel supplies. Moscow has consistently characterised such targets as civilian military infrastructure, a description Ukraine and its allies reject.
