Suspected diarrhoea outbreak: Krishna district orders closure of non-veg markets in Kankipadu
Krishna district officials have temporarily shut non-vegetarian markets in Kankipadu after suspected diarrhoea cases. Collector says situation is under control.
Following a spate of suspected diarrhoea cases in parts of Krishna district, authorities have ordered the temporary closure of non-vegetarian markets and roadside eateries in Kankipadu. The move comes as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of communicable diseases in the region.
District Collector D.K. Balaji, who reviewed the situation on Sunday, said the outbreak is fully under control in both Kankipadu and Vuyyuru. He confirmed that a few patients showing symptoms of vomiting were admitted to local dispensaries over the past few days.
Residents from Ankatamma Talli Temple Street, Punadipadu, Bank Colony, and nearby areas were hospitalised with symptoms of diarrhoea. In response, officials have distributed chlorine tablets, cleaned water tanks, and flushed pipelines across the affected localities.
"Chlorine tablets have been distributed, tanks have been cleaned, and the pipelines have been flushed. The situation is fully under control in Vuyyuru and Kankipadu," the Collector said.
In-charge Collector M. Naveen, who visited Kankipadu, directed officials to take all necessary steps to prevent the spread of disease. Residents have been advised to consume only boiled water until the situation normalises.
