KTR Demands Full Krishna Water Share for Palamuru, Threatens Protests

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has demanded that the government ensure the Palamuru region, comprising the combined Mahabubnagar district, receives its judicious share of Krishna water. He called for the operation of all pumps under the Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Nettempadu, Koilsagar and Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Schemes, as well as for water to the ayacut under the Jurala project.

Addressing newspersons at Pebbair in Wanaparthy district on Saturday, Rama Rao warned that the BRS would take to the streets if the government continued to neglect water supply to Palamuru.

Turning to the land surveys at Erravelli in Siddipet district and Janwada in Rangareddy district, he said the Congress, while in power, could take action against BRS leaders if any irregularity was established, provided it was explained to the people.

On the High Court judgment disqualifying Danam Nagender as Khairatabad MLA for contesting the Secunderabad Lok Sabha election on a Congress ticket after being elected to the Assembly on a BRS ticket, Rama Rao urged the court to disqualify other MLAs who had defected from the BRS to the Congress by publicly joining the party.

Referring to past defections of Congress MLAs to the BRS, he said the merger process had been carried out in accordance with constitutional anti-defection provisions. The High Court verdict, he noted, had faulted the Speaker's decision to give a clean chit to the defected BRS MLA Nagender, and the same yardstick should be applied to other defected MLAs to disqualify them.
