Kushner, Herzog hold talks in Jerusalem on Gaza roadmap
US envoy Jared Kushner met Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem to discuss the next stages in Gaza under Trump's 20-Point Plan.
US Special Envoy Jared Kushner met Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem on Monday, with the two discussing the next stages of the Gaza ceasefire process. The meeting also included Nickolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace High Representative, who sat alongside Kushner.
Herzog's office said the president expressed gratitude for the efforts of Kushner and the Board of Peace in advancing the situation in Gaza in line with President Trump's 20-Point Plan. Herzog noted that Israel's security interests were a central element of the plan and encouraged continued work toward a more secure future for Israelis, Palestinians in Gaza, and the wider region.
The meeting came after Kushner held a lengthy session with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the day. That discussion followed Netanyahu's recent rejection of a separate 15-point US-backed roadmap for the ceasefire.
Kushner had also met with a Hamas leader in Egypt for two hours, as Washington continues to push for Israeli approval of the roadmap. The stakes include the welfare of roughly two million Palestinians in Gaza, the reconstruction of the war-damaged territory, and the question of its future governance.
