KVPS holds dharna in Khammam over pending Dalit atrocity compensation
KVPS activists staged a dharna at the IDOC in Khammam, demanding pending compensation for victims of caste-based atrocities and release of inter-caste marriage incentives.
Activists of the Kula Vivaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangham (KVPS) staged a dharna at the entrance of the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Khammam on Friday, pressing for the release of compensation that remains pending for victims of caste-based atrocities.
The protest centred on cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, with demonstrators raising a set of demands concerning the welfare and protection of Dalits.
Speaking at the demonstration, KVPS district general secretary N. Manohar urged the government to clear the pending incentives due to inter-caste marriage couples and to ensure that such payments are disbursed on time under the scheme. He said the effective implementation of these measures would support social integration and help counter caste discrimination.
Subsequently, a delegation of KVPS submitted a memorandum listing its demands to Collector Divakara T.S. at the integrated district collectorate offices complex in Khammam.
