Mumbai's Lalbaugcha Raja pandal witnessed an overwhelming rush of devotees on the eighth day of the Ganesh festival, with lakhs gathering to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations across Maharashtra have once again drawn immense crowds to the city's prominent pandals, and Lalbaugcha Raja remains among the biggest attractions.
The idol, established in 1934 by local fishermen and traders, is one of Mumbai's most recognisable public Ganesha figures. Its enduring popularity rests on the widespread belief that this Ganapati is a Navasacha Ganapati — the one who fulfils wishes — and devotees hold that sincere prayers here are answered. That faith, along with the pandal's historic roots and cultural reach, draws millions of visitors daily during the festival.
Among those who have visited since the festivities began are several celebrities and public figures. Shah Rukh Khan came to the pandal with his wife Gauri Khan and daughter Suhana Khan, attending the aarti and praying for a happy life. The actor wore a blue kurta, Gauri Khan a yellow suit and Suhana Khan a green salwar suit.
Ranveer Singh also sought blessings at Lalbaugcha Raja, dressed in a traditional white kurta-pyjama and accompanied by heavy security.
The steady stream of devotees on day eight reflected the spiritual fervour and festive atmosphere that have come to define the celebrations, underscoring the enduring faith and cultural significance of Lalbaugcha Raja.
