Adiga's 'Last Man in Tower' Gets September 2026 Release Date

Aravind Adiga's acclaimed novel 'Last Man in Tower' is set for a big-screen adaptation, with the film scheduled to release in Indian theatres on September 11, 2026. The movie is directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media, marking the company's first Hindi feature production.

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Divya Dutta, and Sukant Goel in key roles. Notably, this marks the first time that Bajpayee and Irani will share screen space. The screenplay has been adapted by Sooni Taraporevala.

The story centers on Masterji, a retired school teacher who stands firm in his convictions as his community begins to make choices that diverge from his own. His steadfastness creates friction with long-time acquaintances, including Mrs. Puri, whose decisions are shaped by the prospect of a new life. The narrative explores themes of personal conviction, shifting relationships, and the difficult choices people face when circumstances change.

Director Ben Rekhi expressed his fulfillment in bringing the story to life, praising the collaborative effort from production to scripting. He highlighted the powerful on-screen combination of Bajpayee and Irani, and the emotional depth that Divya Dutta brings to the ensemble. Rekhi described the film as an urgent story about holding onto community and family through turbulent times.
