John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey Join 'The Last of Us' Season 3

HBO has expanded the cast of the third season of The Last of Us, with John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey set to appear in the series based on the widely played video game franchise.

The network revealed the additions on Saturday, a date that holds particular weight in the show's fictional world. September 26 is when the cordyceps outbreak begins in the timeline shared by the games and the television adaptation.

Goodman, known for The Righteous Gemstones and Digger, will appear alongside Alexander of Star Trek: Discovery. The pair are cast as Joey and Paco, described as a friendly duo who refer to themselves as the "Heroes of the Highway."

Bailey, whose credits include Critical Role, will take on the role of Elizabeth, identified as one of the leaders of a religious sect known as the Seraphites.

The three join a growing roster of new faces that includes Jason Ritter, Patrick Wilson, Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Several performers from earlier seasons are also returning, among them Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, Jeffrey Wright, Ariella Barer, Tati Gabrielle and Spencer Lord.

The series continues HBO's adaptation of the acclaimed game franchise, which has built a following across both interactive and television formats.
