Karol G, Rosalía, Drexler and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso Lead Latin Grammy Nominations

A four-way tie at the top of the nominations for the 27th Latin Grammy Awards will pit Colombian star Karol G, Catalan singer Rosalía, Uruguayan songwriter Jorge Drexler and Argentine hip hop duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso against one another in the marquee categories.

Each of the four acts picked up seven mentions, and all are in the running for album, song and record of the year. Their styles span reggaeton, folk-inspired alternative music and rock, with most of the nominees in their thirties and Drexler approaching his 62nd birthday.

Close behind are Silvana Estrada and Mon Laferte with six nominations apiece, including record, album and song of the year. Argentine rapper Milo J follows with five, while best new artist contender Arath Herce has four.

Above them all sits Edgar Barrera, who leads the field with ten nominations, among them producer and composer of the year and two nods for song of the year.

Rosalía's multilingual album inspired by the lives of female saints, "LUX (Complete Works)," is nominated for album of the year. Her track "La Perla" with Yahritza y Su Esencia, which she has described as drawing on Paquita la del Barrio's "Rata de dos patas," is up for record and song of the year. She also features in the pop song, alternative music album, Portuguese language song and short form music video categories.

Drexler, a three-time winner for song of the year, returns in that category with "¿Como se ama?" from his album "Taracá." He is also nominated for alternative song, singer-songwriter album, singer-songwriter song and roots song.

Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, who broke through with their 2024 debut "BAÑO MARÍA" and followed it with "PAPOTA," are nominated for album of the year with "FREE SPIRITS," while "Hasta Jesús Tuvo Un Mal Día" is up for song of the year. They also contend for pop/rock song, alternative music album and long form music video for "FREE SPIRITS (The Film)."

Karol G's "Tropicoqueta," a fusion of Latin urban music with merengue, salsa, bachata and technocumbia, earned her nominations across urban and tropical categories. Her duet with Marco Antonio Solís, "Coleccionando heridas," is nominated for record and song of the year, and "Ese Hombre es Malo" will compete for best regional Mexican song.

Other album of the year nominees include Anitta for "EQUILIBRIVM," Carín León for "MUDA," Milo J for "La vida era más corta" and Rawayana for "¿Dónde Es El After?"

The best new artist category, which this year limited eligibility to artists with fewer than three albums or 25 singles, expanded to 11 contenders: Delilah, FABIAN, Loulu Gilberto, Arath Herce, Macario Martinez, maye, Sofia Monroy, Kendall Peña, Dora Sanches, ARIA VEGA and Zeca Veloso.

Song of the year will be decided among "Dime" by Estrada, "Femme Fatale" by Laferte, "Humano" by Juanes and Vivir Quintana, "Mi gran amor" by Santana with Becky G, "Nilo" by Zanna and "Solifican12" by Milo J.

Daddy Yankee will be honoured as Person of the Year, becoming the first Latin urban artist to receive the accolade. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Nov. 12 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
