Lebanon: Israeli Strikes Kill Three, Including Child, in South and Bekaa

Lebanon's health ministry reported on Friday that Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley killed three people, including a child, and wounded 23 others.

In the southern town of Mayfadoun, residents were seen sifting through rubble and searching for personal belongings amid destroyed homes. One resident, Jamal Salameh, tearfully surveyed the remains of his house, mourning his daughter Mariam, who was expected to begin high school in the coming days.

"We were sitting here peacefully, and I was supposed to enroll my daughter in high school," Salameh said. "We were sitting out here in the evening and all of a sudden a missile hit. We lost consciousness. What were they targeting? What did they think I had here? As you can see, there's nothing. These were kids, what did they do wrong?"

The Israeli military said it launched the strikes in response to a drone fired by Hezbollah at its forces in southern Lebanon. The military added that the drone was intercepted and no soldiers were injured.
