Levi Strauss Discloses Cyber Breach via Social Engineering Attack

Levi Strauss has disclosed a cybersecurity incident in which an unauthorized party gained access to its systems through a social engineering attack that targeted three employees. The disclosure, made in a regulatory filing on Friday, adds the denim maker to a growing list of global firms grappling with a surge in cyberattacks and ransomware incidents.

The company said it has already implemented containment measures and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that certain corporate information was accessed and extracted during the breach. However, Levi Strauss stated that the incident has not disrupted business operations and that it does not expect a material impact on its financial results or day-to-day functioning.

The attack comes amid a broader wave of cyber threats. Internet intelligence data reviewed by Varta Wire shows that ransom-seeking hackers, who often use phone calls to trick victims, have targeted dozens of prominent U.S. financial institutions and other businesses over the past month. The data suggests cybercriminals created digital traps for more than 200 companies in the last five weeks, with Levi Strauss among them.

Earlier this month, Levi Strauss raised its annual net sales forecast, betting on resilient demand for its premium denim among higher-income consumers. The company has not indicated whether the breach could alter those projections.
