BLACKPINK's Lisa Brings 'Always Lalisa' to TIFF for World Premiere
Lisa premiered her documentary 'Always Lalisa' at TIFF, offering a look at her solo career and life away from the stage.
BLACKPINK member Lisa walked the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday for the world premiere of "Always Lalisa," a documentary charting her life and career beyond the K-pop group.
The film follows the Thai singer as she pursues new challenges outside BLACKPINK, including her solo music work and acting, while offering viewers a glimpse of her life away from the stage. It also traces her path from K-pop stardom to international performer, a journey that has included a role in the HBO series "The White Lotus."
Director Sue Kim said she approached the project as she would any other documentary, starting with her subject and working with a small crew to embed herself in Lisa's daily life. She said the scale of Lisa's fame only became clear when she accompanied her to performances, fan meets and other events.
"But off the red carpet and in her daily life, she's a really normal, lovely, warm person," Kim said. "So working with her felt just like working with any other documentary subject, which is hard to believe, I know, but that's how real and natural she is."
"Always Lalisa" is scheduled to open in IMAX theatres on October 12 for a limited run before streaming globally on YouTube Premium later this year.
