Centre to Launch Livestock Insurance Portal on 28 September

The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) will launch a Livestock Insurance Portal on 28 September 2026 in New Delhi, a move aimed at digitising insurance services for livestock farmers across the country.

The portal is to be unveiled by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, who holds the portfolios of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj.

According to the department, the platform will serve as a single, integrated digital window for livestock insurance. It is designed to streamline policy issuance, claim processing, monitoring and reporting for animals covered under the department's Livestock Insurance Scheme.

To widen access, the portal will be available in 11 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English, allowing farmers to use information and services in languages they are familiar with.

The initiative is intended to make livestock insurance more transparent, efficient and technology-driven, while strengthening risk protection for farmers and supporting the sustainability of their livelihoods.

The portal is also expected to enable better coordination, real-time monitoring and data-driven management of livestock insurance programmes, improving service delivery nationwide.

The launch is being positioned as a step towards simplifying insurance processes, enhancing institutional efficiency and bringing inclusive, technology-enabled services closer to livestock farmers.
