Lokesh Open to Reviewing Demand for More Constable, SI Posts in 2026 Recruitment

HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has said the government will look into a request from job aspirants to raise the total number of constable and sub-inspector posts in the police recruitment for 2026.

The assurance came after a group of aspirants met him in Kakinada on Sunday and placed before him their expectations and the difficulties they face in securing posts in the Police Department. They also handed over a memorandum seeking an increase in the number of vacancies in the 2026 recruitment.

Responding to their appeal, Mr. Lokesh said the demand would be reviewed and the possibility of adding posts to the ongoing constable and SI recruitment would be explored. He added that recruitment for various government jobs would be taken up every year.

The Minister said the government was aware of the struggles of aspirants of different government jobs and the long wait they have endured for years.

The State Level Police Recruitment Board had on September 16 issued a notification to fill 1,156 constable posts in various wings, including Prisons and Correctional Services. A separate notification for 60 sub-inspector posts was issued the same day.
