Lokesh Vows Action Against YSRCP Leaders Over Attack on DSC Teachers
Nara Lokesh has said YSRCP leaders and activists accused of attacking DSC-2025 recruited teachers in Vijayawada will face action, and challenged Jagan Mohan Reddy to a debate.
Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has said that YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders and activists allegedly involved in an attack on teachers recruited through DSC-2025 during a protest in Vijayawada on Monday will not escape action.
Speaking at a coordination meeting of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and cadre in Raptadu, Mr. Lokesh said those responsible would be traced no matter where they sought refuge. The meeting was held after he unveiled statues of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao and former MLA Paritala Ravi.
Mr. Lokesh alleged that YSRCP leaders and activists attacked the teachers indiscriminately near the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office, and said not a single person involved in the incident would be spared.
He also challenged YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to fix a date and time for a debate with him on the DSC recruitment issue. Mr. Lokesh said the discussion would also cover the issue of adulterated liquor and alleged irregularities in APPSC appointments during Mr. Reddy's tenure. He said any grievance against him should be settled directly with him, and that he would not tolerate teachers being dragged into political differences.
Turning to the local body elections scheduled for next month, Mr. Lokesh said it was the responsibility of party cadre to secure a hundred per cent victory for the TDP. He urged workers to set aside minor differences, stressing that every vote would be crucial, and to spread awareness among people about the development and welfare measures of the NDA government.
Mr. Lokesh asserted that continuity in government was essential for the State's all-round development, pointing to Odisha and Gujarat as examples of States that progressed because the same government remained in power consecutively. He noted that the TDP had won consecutive terms in Andhra Pradesh only once.
He said TDP cadre had faced harassment and false cases between 2019 and 2024, but had stood their ground and fought back. He assured party workers that both senior and junior members who worked hard for the party would be recognised.
