Love & War to Get IMAX Release as First Look Unveils Ranbir Kapoor

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming romantic drama Love & War will be released in the IMAX format when it arrives in cinemas on January 21, 2027, the film's newly unveiled first-look poster has confirmed.

The poster, which has drawn immediate attention, shows Ranbir Kapoor at the wheel of a blue vintage convertible, wearing sunglasses and a moustache. Blood is visible on one of his arms, suggesting that the film pairs its romance and spectacle with an undercurrent of violence. The title appears across the car door, with the release date printed at the bottom.

A closer look at the branding in the bottom-right corner reveals the words "Experience in IMAX" alongside other logos, confirming the premium large-screen release.

The format is a familiar one for Bhansali. His 2018 epic Padmaavat was released in IMAX 3D and recorded strong business in the format. Love & War therefore marks his return to IMAX after nine years. Like Padmaavat, the new film is also arriving in the Republic Day week.

Love & War stars Kapoor alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Bhansali is known for mounting his films on a grand scale, with elaborate production design, lavish costumes, evocative cinematography and carefully composed frames. With the new film seemingly built on an even larger canvas, its IMAX release is expected to let audiences experience that visual world on the biggest possible screen.
