Speeding EV Rams Six Vehicles on Ludhiana's Bahadurke Road, Five Injured

A speeding electric car tore through a busy stretch of Ludhiana's Bahadurke Road on Thursday afternoon, striking six vehicles in quick succession and leaving five people injured, police said.

The vehicle, a Tata Tiago EV, first hit a motorcyclist and a cyclist head-on before ploughing into two e-rickshaws and an Activa scooter, according to an account of the sequence captured on CCTV. The force of the initial impact threw the motorcyclist into the air; he tumbled several times before landing on the road roughly 30 feet away. One of the e-rickshaws was overturned in the collision.

Among the injured was Jatinder Pal Singh, the driver of one of the e-rickshaws that was hit. Singh said the car appeared to be travelling at around 100 to 120 km per hour and alleged that its driver may have been intoxicated.

The footage shows traffic moving normally at about 4:35 pm before the Tiago EV enters the frame at high speed. The car did not stop after the first collision and continued into the other vehicles.

All five injured people have been hospitalised. The Salem Tabri police reached the spot after being alerted and began an investigation. The car's driver has been taken into custody, and police action has been initiated against him.
