Ludhiana Teen Dies After Collapsing at Swimming Pool
A 15-year-old boy with a heart condition died after collapsing at a Ludhiana swimming pool, raising concerns about emergency medical readiness at such facilities.
A 15-year-old boy died in Ludhiana on August 29 shortly after a swimming session, prompting renewed scrutiny of emergency preparedness at recreational water facilities.
The teenager, identified as Vansh and a resident of Bindra Colony, had been undergoing treatment for a heart-related illness at AIIMS Delhi, according to his family.
CCTV footage from the pool area shows Vansh sitting with friends after exiting the water. He suddenly appears unwell, and while stretching, loses balance and collapses sideways.
His companions immediately rushed to his aid, attempting CPR and chest compressions. When these efforts did not revive him, they sought help from adults nearby. Despite all attempts, Vansh could not be saved.
The incident has highlighted the absence of immediate emergency medical support at the venue. Questions are now being raised about the need for trained personnel, life-saving equipment such as defibrillators, and clear emergency protocols at swimming pools, especially where minors are concerned.
The sudden loss has left the family and friends of the teenager devastated.
